Special Features

Our Aviary
Anyone entering the door of Holy Family Home is greeted by  a chirping melody and the delightful sight of birds in flight.  Conveniently located in our lobby, our aviary brings the beauty of nature indoors, offering an inviting and pleasant ambiance for our residents and their visitors.

Our aviary houses Zebra Finches, Gouldian Finches, Nun Finches, Java Rice Finches, Society Finches, a French Frill Canary and Alligator Birds.

Snoezelen
A contraction of the Dutch verbs snuffelen (to seek out or explore) and dozenel (to relax), the concept of SNOEZELEN is to stimulate an individual's primary senses to help him or her overcome fatigue and enjoy some rest. In the Snoezelen experience, multi-sensory equipment, such as a solar projector, bubble tube, mirror ball and fiberoptic spray provide a stimulating atmosphere with few demands on cognitive ability.  As lights, paterns and shapes float over the ceiling and walls, accompanied by soothing music, people experience reduced stress.  In an environment such as this -- that promotes trust and facilitates relaxation -- our therapists elicit positive responses from our residents.

Therapeutic Recreation
We also offer a number of therapeutic experiences to facilitate residents' physical  and cognitive maintenance and recorery and their emotional well-being.  Activities, such as bingo, horseracing and field trips engage our residents in daily activities and help them maintain a positive outlook.
