History Holy Family Home was established in Park Slope in 1879 by the Little Sisters of the Poor, a French order of nursing sisters. The sisters purchased and moved into the current Bensonhurst building in the mid-1970s. The former Catholic Medical Centers assumed ownership and operation of the home in 1989. In 2000, it became part of Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers when Catholic Medical Centers merged with Sisters of Charity and Saint Vincents Hospital and Medical Centers to form a Catholic health care system that spans the greater metropolitan area.
