The Finest in Emergency Care -- Three Level I Trauma Centers -- Two Designated Stroke Centers -- Five Fast Track Services

St. Vincents Manhattan, St. Vincents Staten Island and Mary Immaculate Hospital have all been designated by the New York City Department of Emergency Services as Level I Trauma Centers.

The Level I designation, the highest available, indicates that we have all the resources readily available to ensure that patients receive immediate treatment with the most sophisticated equipment and skills available.  Our Level I Trauma Centers provide round-the-clock medical staff specialty trained in severe trauma and emergency care.  Additional medical staff trained in neurosurgery, orthopaedics, and all other medical and surgical specialties must be available to provide care at a moments notice.

We also offer high level emergency care in areas other than trauma. St. Vincent's Manhattan and St. Vincent's Midtown Hospitals have recently received designation from the New York State Department of Health as Stroke Centers. This designation is awarded to select hospitals that meet the highest standards for stroke care. This means that our stroke team is available 24 hours, seven days a week to rapidly respond to stroke patients.

In addition, we operate Fast Track areas in all our emergency departments, so people with minor illnesses and injuries don't have to wait long hours to be seen.  In our Fast Track areas, we treat you quickly and well and send you home in good time.
