St. Elizabeth Ann's Health Care & Rehabilitation Center will celebrate Nursing Home Week by holding a week-long series of events for residents, their family members and staff. All events are organized around the theme 'Legends in our Time' and will take place on-site at the facility, located at 91 Tompkins Avenue, Staten Island.

Organized by Director of Therapeutic Recreation, Alison Malone, the events will highlight legends Jack LaLane, Jonas Salk, Joe DiMaggio, Clara Harlowe Barton and Julia Child, along with St. Elizabeth Ann's resident legends, each day in the lobby. A Mother's Day tea, featuring violinist Albert Mulad, will kick off the events on Sunday, May 14, at 10:30 a.m.

In recognition of fitness legend Jack La Lane, staff will participate in healthy competition throughout the week, logging their progress toward better eating habits and increased physical activity. Points will be awarded and prizes given to those with the most points on Employee Appreciation Day, Wednesday, May 17.

On Friday, May 19, residents and staff will entertain guests by performing in a talent show at 2:30 p.m. in the Atrium. Participants will sing, dance, play music, conduct a fashion show and have an all-around good time. The weeklong celebration will culminate with an evening Karaoke party, held on the second floor at 7:00 p.m.

'At. St. Elizabeth Ann's, we are consider it a privilege to hold events that our residents and their families enjoy,' said Patricia McGrann, Administrator for the facility. 'We are very grateful to Alison Malone, along with Peter Smith, Director of Nursing, and Ken Senk, Director of Nutrition for organizing these activities. They understand how laughter, entertainment and good times enhance the quality of our residents' lives, and they are dedicated to doing just that.'
