Please join Team St. Vincent's Hospital to improve the health and well-being of New Yorkers by running with us in the 2009 ING New York City Marathon and raising funds to provide a full range of quality healthcare services to the millions of people who live, work and visit the Westside and Downtown everyday. Your help is crucial to enable St. Vincent's to make programmatic and technological upgrades that will change the landscape of healthcare in Manhattan for many years to come.
About us:
St. Vincent's Hospital provides outstanding and compassionate care to thousands of people in every stage of health, sickness and recovery, regardless of their ability to pay. Over the course of our 160 year history, St. Vincent's Hospital has experienced numerous milestones and medical achievements. In spite of economic challenges, we continue to offer important programs to benefit our patients and the community. Within the past year, St. Vincent's has launched a significant renovation and expansion of our emergency department that will allow us to provide the highest level of care for the increasing number of Emergency Room visits; established the Eli and Abby Manning Birthing Center that will be housed in our refurbished labor and delivery unit for a growing population of expectant parents; initiated special services and greater outreach to the frail elderly through our Department of Community Medicine and developed vital services for families of returning veterans through a collaboration between our Behavioral Health Trauma and Wellness Center and the national Wounded Warrior Project.
Earlier this year, we won approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission for the innovative design of the new St. Vincent's Hospital, which will be the only environmentally advanced and all-digital clinical facility in the region.
What we do:
St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan serves more than 240,000 patients every year, and we are committed to offering new approaches to care that improves treatments and outcomes for all our patients. St. Vincent's strives to provide the latest in technology offered by world class physicians, nurses and other care providers. In 2008, the New York State Department of Health ranked St. Vincent's first in Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery mortality rates and we were the first in New York City to introduce RapidArc, the latest radiotherapy treatment for cancer patients. We have been given a Five Star Rating in cardiac, maternity, and stroke care and also operate the only Regional Trauma Center from the Battery to West 114th Street.
Last year's marathon:
In 2008, Team St. Vincent's collectively raised nearly $100,000. This year we would like to increase this goal to support our current programmatic and technological upgrades.
