Delineation of Privleges

PGY 1 Level

  • Day to day patient care
  • Admission History and Physical Examination
  • Order writing
  • Timely communication with supervising resident for guidance regarding diagnosis and management
  • Timely communication with the attending physician
    o On admission
    o On transfer
    o On significant change in patient status
    o On any and all significant patient decisions
  • Daily progress notes except Sunday
  • Timely review of all diagnostic studies
  • Immediate response to urgent nursing calls
  • Attendance at conferences
  • Assistance in teaching the third year medical students
  • Performance of all procedures for which intern has been credentialed:

PGY 2, 3 and 4

 

·        Providing direct supervision of PGY 1 and students

·        Teaching and guiding evidence based medical care

·        Leading work rounds each day

·        Guiding the preparation for attending rounds

·        Co-signing of all Sub-Intern orders in a timely fashion

·        Directly observing of 3rd year medical students in the performance of at least one complete H&P during their rotation

·        Providing appropriate patient evaluation at the time of admission and on-going supervision of patient care during the hospitalization

·        Appropriately communicating with the attending physician of record on each case

·        Communicating initial consultation requests

·        Supervising all codes and medical emergencies

·        Supervising interdisciplinary care of patients

·        Supervising cost effectiveness of care

·        Supervising patient length of stay

·        Supervising PGY 1 and Sub Intern sign-outs

·        Supervising and performing procedures with individual credentialing as noted on www.Webesprit.net
