Applications

Neurology positions are very competitive with approximately 300 applicants for 3 positions. 

  1. Applications are accepted via ERAS and are currently being accepted.
  2.   Applications are accepted from students and or graduates of an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada or of an international medical school listed by the World Health Organization.
  3. All candidates must have passed USMLE part I with a minimum score of 80. 
  4. At this time we do not sponsor any visas, but do accept applications from foreign nationals with permanent resident status.
  5. There is no limit regarding the number of years since medical school graduation.
  6. Final selection is based on numerous criteria including medical school transcripts, USMLE scores, three letters of recommendation, research experience, publications, and an interview.
  7. There are four positions for 2009-2010.
  8. We will be reviewing applications from September through November for the class that will begin in 2010.  Applications are accepted through December 31.
  9. We will be interviewing From December 2008 through January 2009.
The St. Vincent's Neurology program is an advanced program.  Residents begin in the PGY2 year after a full year of ACGME-accredited training in internal medicine.   There are a limited number of PGY1 preliminary year internal medicine positions available at St. Vincent's Manhattan, as well as Metropolitan Hospital (an affiliated teaching hospital of New York Medical College).  These positions are highly competitive and require a separate application and interview.
