St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan Hosts 2007 New York Giants Kickoff Luncheon
08/30/2007
Fundraising Event Introduced the 2007 Giants and Recognizes 2006's Players of the Year; ex-player and Hall-of-Famer Frank Gifford Received Giants' Alumni Man of the Year Award

New York, NY - The 2007 New York Giants Kickoff Luncheon was held on Wednesday, August 29, at the Grand Hyatt New York at Grand Central Station.

This year's luncheon celebrated 41 years of friendship between St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan and New York's favorite team, the Giants. All proceeds from the luncheon and the raffle are donated to two very special programs: the John V. Mara Cancer Research Unit at St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan and the John V. Mara CYO Camp. Funds raised from this event are used by St. Vincent's to conduct cutting-edge cancer research into new therapeutic options and expanded cancer treatment opportunities.

'We are extremely proud to celebrate 41 years with the New York Giants and to kick-off their 2007 football season,' said Henry Amoroso president and CEO of Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers. 'Our partnership over the years has been a tremendous success, raising money for cutting edge research and positively influencing the lives of young people.'

Former seven-time pro bowler Frank Gifford was honored with the Giants Alumni Man of the Year Award. Gifford is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame who rushed 3,096 yards, caught 367 passes and scored 484 points. He still holds the franchise record with 78 touchdowns. Gifford has long immersed himself in charitable and community endeavors, notably with the United Way and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Gifford and his wife Kathy Lee, are deeply involved with the Association to Benefit Children, an organization that aids disadvantaged children and their families. The Giffords helped fund and are frequent visitors to Cody's House and Cassidy's Place, two homes in Manhattan named after their children that provide a wide range of programs for children who are in need of assistance.
