BEDSIDE EDUCATION
The program in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent's Manhattan is designed to develop meaningful patient responsibility in resident training through direct and comprehensive care of patients. House staff participation in both non-private and private patient care as primary physicians enhances data gathering and synthesis skills, diagnostic ability, therapeutic decision-making, psychosocial skills and continuity medical care.  The bedside teaching program is centered on Resident Patient Management Rounds and Attending Teaching Rounds.

GENERAL MEDICINE FLOOR TEAMS
St. Vincent's Manhattan residents are exposed to a medically, socially and demographically diverse patient population.  The high degree of acuity of illness among the patients admitted to St. Vincent's Manhattan thoroughly prepares residents to diagnose and manage virtually all problems relevant to the practice of General Internal Medicine.

As the academic medical center of New York Medical College, our Housestaff have ample opportunity to step into the role of teacher to medical students.  A medicine floor team usually consists of a senior resident, two interns, a sub-intern, and two medical students with overall supervision by an Attending Physician.
