As a vital part of the community for more than 150 years, St. Vincent's recognizes its responsibility to plan for meeting the healthcare needs of the West Side and Downtown for the coming century. Click here to learn more about why our community needs a new hospital.
Much has happened in the two years since we began making plans to build a technologically advanced new St. Vincent's Hospital. Thanks to many of you and to the tremendous leadership we've received from so many of our local elected officials, today we are closer than we have ever been to bringing a world-class, green hospital to the neighborhood. Recently, the City's Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) approved our application to demolish the O'Toole Building to make way for the new hospital, which was an important step forward for our collective efforts. You can review all of the materials and designs that have been submitted and presented to the LPC here.
There is still much more that remains to be done if we are to achieve our ultimate goal, including obtaining additional Landmarks approvals, as well undergoing the New York City Department of City Planning's formal review process, and a full review by the New York State Department of Health. With your support, we are incredibly hopeful that we can gain all of the approvals necessary to make the new hospital a reality.
If you haven't done so already, please click here to join the growing list of the Friends of a New St. Vincent's Hospital and click here to read the latest news on our ongoing efforts.
Your advocacy for a new St. Vincent's Hospital continues to be incredibly crucial. We would be honored to have your support, and we hope to work with you and hear from you in the weeks and months ahead.
