Our Commitment to the Community

We know and value the importance of community involvement, and look forward to working alongside our friends and neighbors to develop and implement plans for the new St. Vincent's.

To help guide us during this project, we have formed a Community Working Group. This group is composed of elected officials, representatives of Community Board 2 and local block associations, community leaders, patient advocates, and St. Vincent's physician representatives. The purpose of the Community Working Group is to ensure that the community's needs are addressed throughout the life of the project. The group will also serve as a forum for dissemination of information, so that the community can participate in each step in the creation of the new hospital.

Later in the fall when designs are drafted, St. Vincent's and the Rudin family will submit their plans jointly to the Landmarks Preservation Commission and subsequently to the City Planning Commission.  During the review and approvals processes of these two city agencies, there are formal opportunities for the public to provide its input.

We are mindful always that the construction of our community's new hospital must to be respectful of the fabric of our unique surroundings. As designs and architectural plans are developed, we will post them to this site.
