Position Description :
|
The Respiratory Therapist administers general respiratory care procedures as per physician's order. Responsibilities include setting up, trouble shooting and monitoring oxygen, aerosol, humidity and lung expansion therapy as well as patients receiving mechanical ventilator support. Consults with physicians and documents all therapy administered.
Qualifications/Requirements: Must be a graduate of an A.M.A. approved Respiratory Therapy or two year training program or have similar educational background such as a Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in the Biological Sciences. Must have valid NYS license to practice as a respiratory therapist/respiratory technician. Must hold credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Knowledge of medical terminology, the therapeutic use of oxygen and the equipment used to administer respiratory therapy copuled with good decision making skills are essential. Must have manual dexterity and fine motor skills of fingers and demonstrate ability to move heavy equipment,walk and run down stairs.
