Important Screenings
If identified and treated early, colorectal cancer is highly treatable. Our surgeons recommend that everyone over the age of 50 get a colonoscopy every four or five years, and anal examination every year, and a rigid sigmoidoscopy every two years. Those who are at high risk, who have a family history of colorectal cancer or who have had cancer or polyps, should begin screenings at age 40.
