St. Vincent's Westchester Auxiliary Announces 2009 Youth Awards

Harrison, New York (May 14, 2009)- The Auxiliary Board of St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester in Harrison, today presented awards to 14 area high school students whose volunteer service exemplifies the hospital's core values of respect, integrity, compassion and excellence. The awards were presented at a reception at the hospital by Auxiliary president Marie Silverman Marich and vice president Susan Pizzutello.
Guest speaker William Keegan, night operations commander of the World Trade Center 9/11 Rescue/Recover Teams, commended the graduates for their volunteer service and spoke of his own volunteer work as founder of H.E.A.R.T. 9/11, an organization comprised of veteran police officers, fire fighters, construction trade union workers, and surviving families of those killed on 9/11/2001. The program provides relief help anywhere in the world where a disaster response is required to a community crisis. State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer also attended the reception and presented certificates to the students commending their service.
