For Applicants
|
- St. Vincent's matches 8-10 PGY-1 residents per year, exclusively through the NRMP. Traditionally, most of our residents have been graduates of LCME accredited allopathic medical schools and AOA accredited osteopathic medical schools.
- Applications for all PGY levels are processed through ERAS only.
- The deadline for applications is December 31st
- Candidates generally must have USMLE two-digit scores above 80, although this is not an absolute requirement and exceptions will be considered based on the overall strength of the candidate's application.
- It is advantageous to have scores for USMLE Step 1 and 2 (and have taken Step II CS) available by late January.
- If your medical school requires that you pass step 2 in order to meet the criteria for graduation, this score must be available prior to the deadline for NRMP ranking.
- Transcripts and Medical School Performance Evaluations ("Deans' Letters") are very important for ranking, but may not be necessary for an invitation to interview.
- Interviews are held between mid-October and mid-January, and are arranged through email and ERAS only.
- Observerships and externships are generally not offered. However, electives in a variety of treatment settings are available for fourth year medical students from LCME-accredited medical schools and applications are considered on an individual basis. Students must apply through New York Medical College.
- New York Medical College also sponsors residency training programs in adult psychiatry at New York Medical College (Westchester Medical Center), Metropolitan Hospital, and Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, and applicants are encouraged to apply.
