St. Vincent's Hosts New York Giants 43rd Annual Kickoff Luncheon
09/25/2009
New York, NY, September 2, 2009 - The 2009 New York Giants Kickoff Luncheon was held on Wednesday, September 2, at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers. For 43 years, the memory of John V. Mara, the founder of the New York Giants, has been honored each season at kickoff time with a luncheon to benefit the John V. Mara Memorial Cancer Research Fund of St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan and the John V. Mara CYO Camp.

'St. Vincent's Hospital and the New York Giants share a wonderful tradition of kicking off the football season by honoring the legacy of John Mara,' said St. Vincent's CEO and President Henry J. Amoroso. 'We wish the Giants the best of luck in their final year at the old Giants Stadium.'

Giants coach Tom Coughlin shared his strategies for having a winning season with the estimated 800 guests in attendance, and former Giants wide receiver Stephen Baker was honored as the New York Giants Alumni Man of the Year.

The John V. Mara Memorial Cancer Research Fund supports cutting-edge cancer research, new therapeutic options and expanded cancer treatment opportunities at St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center.
