New York, NY, January 2, 2008 - Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers is supporting the nation and troops at home by joining the U.S. Army Reserve Employer Partnership. The program is a new way for the Army to help ensure that soldiers are not left behind in the workforce when they are called to serve, and offers employers access to members of the Army's highly trained reserve troops.

'Saint Vincent's is excited to partner with the U.S. Army as an employer,' said Bart Metzger, St. Vincent's Senior Vice President of Human Resources. 'These men and women have pledged to serve our nation, and they deserve to have access to stable jobs with employers that respect their commitment.'

The U.S. Army Reserve Employee Partnership, launched in the spring of 2008, helps provide new career opportunities for more than one million soldiers through partnerships with businesses and non-profits. As a partner in the initiative, St. Vincent's is able to communicate directly with troops anywhere about open positions through a special website, so that even soldiers stationed abroad have access to postings.

The soldier applicants have already been screened and pre-qualified by the Army, helping to make the hiring process easier. The Army also provides assistance with identifying qualified soldiers during any gaps caused by deployment to help St. Vincent's prepare for staffing needs.

Reservists are still able to enjoy special training and educational opportunities through the Army while employed with St. Vincent's, allowing them to advance their skills and knowledge while building heir civilian careers.

'Our troops have been called on to do so much for the country, and we are happy to lend our support through this partnership. We look forward to building an ongoing and mutually-rewarding relationship with the Army and the reservists,' said Irv Naar, St. Vincent's Vice President for Recruitment and Talent Management.
