New Inpatient Alcohol and Chemical Detoxification Program Opens at St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan

New York, NY, September 23, 2008- St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan announces the opening of a new 10-bed inpatient alcohol and chemical detoxification program. The program will serve individuals with primary diagnoses of alcohol and/or chemical dependency who need a medically-managed inpatient detoxification. It has also been designed to accommodate the special needs of individuals with co-occurring physical and/or psychiatric disorders.

The Inpatient Detoxification Program is staffed by a multidisciplinary treatment team of registered nurses, social workers, and certified substance abuse counselors, working under the leadership of psychiatrists who are board-certified and specialize in alcohol and chemical dependency. Program services include addiction education; individual, group, and family counseling; self-help groups; medication management, and aftercare planning and referrals. The goal of the program is to offer each individual the opportunity for a healthy, sober life.
