Dr. Steven Parmett Named Chair of Radiology

New York, NY, August 12, 2008 - Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers announced the appointment of Dr. Steven Parmett as chair of the radiology department at St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan. Dr. Parmett is an accomplished expert in the field of radiology and will lead the department into the future of medical imaging technology and patient care.

Dr. Parmett plans to build upon and intensify the department's efforts to access the latest in imaging technology and digital connectivity, and to coordinate planning for the development of the advanced technology that will be integral to the new St. Vincent's Hospital. One key enhancement is the implementation of C.T.R.M. - critical test result management. This service will allow patients' critical test results to be quickly communicated to the responsible clinicians, providing a convenient, quality patient experience.
He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. Dr. Parmett joins St. Vincent's from Mt. Sinai Medical Center, where he served as the director of the North General Hospital radiology affiliation and chair of radiology for North General, as well as attending radiologist for Mt. Sinai in PET-CT/Nuclear Medicine.

Dr. Parmett attended Harvard University for his undergraduate, graduate and medical studies. After an internship in medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, he completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital-Harvard Medical School, and then a fellowship in nuclear medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School.
He has received many professional awards and honors, and is a frequent lecturer and presenter in his area of subspecialty expertise, nuclear medicine, and is widely published in his field. Dr. Parmett is board certified in diagnostic radiology, with special competence in nuclear radiology, by the American Board of Radiology, and in nuclear medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.
