New Water Jet Technology to Treat Gastric Cancer Available for the First Time in Manhattan at St. Vincent's


St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan announced today that it will offer a more precise technology to treat stomach cancer, through the ERBEJET(r) 2 Water-Jet technology. This tool facilitates Endoscopic Submuscosal Dissection through the use of an extremely thin laminar jet that rotates in a circular fashion and forces tumor tissue to lift and separate from underlying healthy tissue, facilitating endoscopic removal. St. Vincent's is the first hospital in Manhattan to offer this minimally invasive ultra precise technology.

The innovative ERBEJET(r) 2 technology offers many benefits in the application process. A major advantage of the Water-Jet technology is that it allows the doctor to attack the stomach cancer more precisely and reducing the risk to underlying healthy tissue during the procedure.

Prior to endoscopic submucosal dissection, invasive surgery was the primary option for removal of tumors within the stomach lining. Now, with this innovative technology, physicians can not only treat gastric cancer without major surgery, but also, remove this type of cancer in its early stages.
