Malignant high blood pressure (malignant hypertension) is
severe high blood pressure. The cause may be unknown or may be due to
medication or another condition.
Untreated malignant hypertension
can damage the brain, heart, eyes, or kidneys. It is a medical emergency that
requires immediate treatment. Malignant high blood pressure is also called a
hypertensive crisis or hypertensive emergency.
