Pheochromocytoma is a tumor usually found in the adrenal
glands (located on the kidneys). The tumor usually is not cancerous, but it
can be fatal if left untreated.
Pheochromocytoma is rare and occurs most often in young
adults. It causes attacks of high blood pressure, headaches, excessive sweating,
nausea and vomiting, anxiety, and loss of consciousness.
Treatment for pheochromocytoma involves surgery to remove
the tumor.
