Curriculum

The department offers a comprehensive program in dental care. General dentistry is the gatekeeper; Patients are referred for oral-maxillofacial surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, endodontics, pedodontics and orthodontics. Specialists are available in all these disciplines. Our eight delivery sites have thirty dental units for patient care. Our attending staff has grown to approximately 17 full-time equivalent general dentists and oral-maxillofacial surgeons.

The department of dental medicine and oral-maxillofacial surgery offers three accredited residencies: a 12-month general practice residency, a 24-month general practice residency, and a 48-month oral-maxillofacial surgery residency.

The department's academic programs have generated many publications as well as four textbooks.
