Services Faculty Electives and Research Publications
The section of Allergy and Immunology participates in research, teaching and
patient care with respect to allergic disorders. Section Chief, Robery Y.
Lin, M.D., heads up this service, which includes a weekly allergy clinic every
Thursday, inpatient conusltations and faculty practice.

asthma
- RAST testing
- Patch testing for contact dermatitis
- Office spirometry and bronchodilator response
measurements
- Testing for physical urticarias including cold urticaria,
dermatographia, and cholinergic urticaria
- Evaluation for exercise induced allergic
disorders
- Nasal cytology
- Aspirin allergy evaluation
- Inpatient drug desensitization and challenges
- Allergic mediator level measurements

Electives and Research While there
is no fellowship in allergy and immunology, a clinical elective for residents
and senior medical students is avialable. In addition, the section offers
a research elective for first year medical students through New York Medical
College. Prior research areas have included emergency treatment of asthma
and allergy, nasal cytology, and mediators in acute allergic syndorm.
Participation in sponsored studies has included the TENOR study and the SMART
study. Current work has been in the area of angioedema hospitalizations
and epidemiology of asthma. Alternative/integrative medicine
practitioners, including acupuncturists, are also credentialed through this
section.
