St. Vincent's
Staten Island offers a tradition of outstanding nursing care in a
close-knit, caring community. Our values define both our foundation and our
future. Simply stated, Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence
characterize our every interaction whether it is with our patients or among
fellow practitioners and team members. Cooperation and teamwork are
fostered. Human dignity is preserved. Concern for one another is demonstrated,
and people take ownership. And there's a common drive to provide excellence in
everything we do whether it is delivering exceptional, quality-driven nursing
care or providing outstanding customer service.
Nursing in Acute Care Stemming from the principle of
total care that embraces mind, body and sprit, acute care is the hallmark of St.
Vincent's Hospital Staten Island. While patients may vary in age,
diagnoses, needs and complexity, the exceptional level of care is
universal.
Nursing in Behavioral Health Nurses in our
Behavioral Health areas serve children, adolescents, adults and their
families through both inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance abuse
treatment services.
Continuing Education and Career Development St. Vincent's
is committed to nurturing its nurses and providing them with the means to
acquire advanced skills and knowledge so we can continue to deliver the highest
quality care. We offer ongoing support and orientation for new
nurses throughout their first year, and as we are strongly
committed to developing the best nursing clinicians possible, ongoing learning
is an integral part of our culture. We provide a complete range
of ongoing in-service and continuing education programs. This enables every
nurse to acclimate smoothly, acquire or enhance knowledge, pursue new
experiences, develop clinical competencies and prepare for inevitable changes in
the profession and particular specialties.
