Welcome to our Wound Care Center!

Did you know that approximately 4 million Americans suffer from non-healing or chronic wounds?  If you have a wound that just won't heal, you're certainly not alone.  Residents of New York City and the surrounding metro area are now receiving effective treatment for these distressing wounds at the St. Vincent's Hospital Wound Care Center located in the heart of downtown Manhattan.

Although most doctors routinely treat acute wounds in their day-to-day practice, our Wound Care Center staff is devoted to the complexity of non-healing or chronic wounds only.  These types of wounds present a particular challenge for our care team, and a chronic wound, regardless of its cause, requires a world-renown level of expertise to produce optimal results when it comes to healing.  At St. Vincent's, you can expect nothing less than expertise.  We annually out perform the national averages for treatment results:

  • 2009-Patient satisfaction: 100%
  • 2009-Healing Rate: 95%

Are you a Candidate?

If you have a wound that has not started to heal in two weeks or completely healed in six weeks, you should be treated by a specialized wound care center such as our own.  Chronic and non-healing wounds come from a variety of different medical conditions or lifestyle factors, and may not heal for many different reasons. However, the majority of wound patients come from a limited number of risk categories, including:

  • Diabetics often acquire non-healing wounds because of poor circulation preventing an otherwise normal wound healing.
  • Bed-ridden patients or those suffering from immobility often acquire pressure ulcers, or bedsores, which are considered chronic wounds and are very difficult to heal on their own as well.
  • Geriatric patients, who may be suffering from immobility as well, often have problems with vascular disease that translate into wounds that just don't heal.

If you or someone you love is suffering from non-healing wounds, isn't it time to begin the healing process?  Most insurance companies do cover wound care and the faster you act, the better the outcome.  Please contact our Wound Care Center at 212-604-1010 for an appointment.
