The School of Nursing of Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers Staten Island offers a two-year, seventy-one (71) credit Associate in Science Degree in Nursing. Forty-one (41) credits are provided by the School of Nursing and the remaining thirty (30) credits are earned through an affiliation with St. Francis College. In our two-year associate degree program, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of learning experiences that will encompass both classroom instruction and clinical practice. Supervised clinical experience takes place within the medical center as well as a variety of community based facilities.

The program offers you the opportunity to:

  • Receive your Associate in Science Degree, with a major in Nursing
  • Earn forty-one (41) credits toward your Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
  • Qualify for the RN-NCLEX Registered Professional Nurse's Licensing Examination
  • Learn the art and science of a rewarding, caring professional career.

Admission Requirements:

  • Completed Application with essay and application fee.
  • Achievement of acceptable score on pre-admission entrance examination.
  • Evidence of the ability to maintain an acceptable standard of scholarship.
  • Evidence of high school or equivalency diploma.
  • Official transcripts from an approved high school(s).

Or

  • Official transcript of GED scores.
  • Official transcripts from all college (s) attended (if applicable).
  • College GPA - 2.5+ (if applicable).
  • U. S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien Status.

Applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee when the above requirements are met. Selections are made following a comprehensive assessment by the Admissions Committee. Consideration is given to those applicants who have demonstrated academic achievement since high school education. Applicants will be notified by mail regarding the decision of the Admissions Committee.

Please note that meeting the requirements stated above does not guarantee admission. Classes are admitted once a year in September. The application process begins in the fall. The school operates on an academic calendar.

Financial Assistance:
Assistance is available and awarded on the basis of financial need and academic excellence.  Federal grants and loans are available to eligible students.
