Internal Medicine - Primary Care Track

Sponsor: New York Medical College

Meet our Primary Care family!
This video reflects the essence of our program and
our mission to provide primary care health services
with compassion, respect and teamwork.
We pride ourselves in preparing young clinicians for a career
in community primary care medicine in the 21st Century.

Overview

The Primary Care Track of the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan is conjointly sponsored by the departments of Medicine and Community Medicine. This medical residency track offers an alternative to the traditional training experience for residents seeking more extensive experience in ambulatory care and community service. In the three years of comprehensive training within the Primary Care Track, residents spend 12 months on the primary care service, which fully qualifies residents to sit for the examination of the American Board of Internal Medicine. The residents also rotate on the medical services, intensive and coronary care units, the emergency room and the consult service. An optional fourth year of training is also available as a Primary Care Fellowship.
