Endovascular Neurosurgery
We have an active endovascular neurosurgical program with a readily available endovascular interventional neuroradiologist. We have done GDC embolization of over 75 cerebral aneurysms. We have capabilities for treating AVMs, deep tumors, stenting of intracranial arteries, angioplasty of intracranial arteries for vasospasm, etc. The endovascular procedures are carried out in an ultra modern endovascular suite specially built for this purpose with a biplane angiography unit and road mapping.
Skull Base Surgery Program
The skull base surgery program exists in collaboration with New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where a skull base clinic is held every Monday morning. The cases are seen between the neurosurgeon and the neuro-otologist. Surgical management is performed at the Manhattan campus, while most of the follow-up and investigations are done at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Craniovertebral Surgery Program
We recruited a faculty member with special expertise in craniovertebral disorders. A number of these patients have been seen and managed in the past year.
Movement Disorders Program
We are in the process of organizing a movement disorder program. A neurologist and neurosurgeon have already been recruited.
Trigeminal Neuralgia Program
We have facilities for ordering all kinds of procedures for trigeminal neuralgia. This includes micro-vascular decompression, stereotactic radiosurgery, percutaneous radiofrequency, per-cutaneous balloon micro-compression and per-cutaneous glycerol trigeminal rhizolysis. A radio-frequency lesion generator is available.
Academic Affiliation
We serve as the academic medical center of New York Medical College in New York City. Neurosurgery residents rotate between Westchester County Medical Center and St. Vincents Manhattan. All faculty members have academic appointments at New York Medical College. Combined conferences are held on Fridays either at Westchester County Medical Center or St. Vincent's Manhattan.
