Overview
Saint Vincent Catholic Medical
Centers Queens Residency in Family Practice and Community Medicine was established
in 1979. Since that time, the quality our family practice residency programs has
remained high and is reflected in the number and quality of our applicants and
residents, the excellence of our faculty, and the strong support of our
community of hospitals in providing up-to-date facilities and skilled staff. Our
program strives to promote excellence in residency education, provide academic
support, and respond to society's ever-increasing demand for skilled family
physicians. Our patients represent a cross-section of the various ethnic and
socioeconomic groups living within New York City. Here the residents see the
complete spectrum of medical and socially related problems.
We have seven residents a year (7-7-7) and our primary hospital is
Mary Immaculate, located in Jamaica, Queens. Over 85% of our rotations occur
there; the rest take place at our sister hospital St. John's Queens in Elmhurst.
These two hospitals are part of the larger Saint Vincent Catholic Medical
Centers (SVCMC), New York's second largest healthcare system.
