Overview
You will enter an academic environment where primary care training and
internal medicine practice are well-established and well-respected. The
residency program in medicine is linked to a community rich in ethnic and
socioeconomic diversity.
Two hospitals in Queens provide trainees with
an integrated and broad-based education: St. John's Queens Hospital, in
Elmhurst, and Mary Immaculate Hospital, in Jamaica. At both hospitals,
physicians treat a wide variety of medical illnesses and offer a broad array of
services to patients. Medical and subspecialty clinics play a large role in the
education of residents. Full-time, part-time, and voluntary faculty members are
available for daily rounds, consultations, and resident teaching. Selected
elective rotations may be taken outside of Saint Vincent Catholic Medical
Centers.
