Overview

Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in Queens sponsors two residency programs and a fellowship. The podiatric surgical residency program and the wound care/geriatric fellowship are under the direction of Michael DellaCorte, D.P.M., chairman of the department of podiatry and director of podiatric medical education. The Residency program faculty also consists of David Z. Shecter, D.P.M., and Dr. Barney Martin, D.P.M.

A faculty of 80 podiatrists are on staff, with approximately 25 of them intimately involved in the training of both surgical and medical residents. These attendings share with the residents individual approaches and styles of treatment, choosing procedures, and supervising the overall continuum of care for each patient.

The two Queens acute-care hospitals provide an integrated and broad-based education. All treat a wide array of podiatric disorders and offer numerous services. Medical and subspecialty clinics play a major role in the education of residents. Growing faculty instructors are available for daily rounds, consultations, and resident teaching.
