Fellowship in Wound Care/Geriatrics

The fellowship in Wound Care/Geriatrics enjoys full approval by the Council of Podiatric Medical Education. This one-year program begins July 1. The management of diabetic infections and wounds has been an essential part of podiatric surgical and medical training. This fellowship affords a focused education in these very important areas. This unique academic experience includes hands-on training in the management of chronic wounds, enhancement in knowledge of plastic surgery, management of infectious diseases, and applied knowledge of invasive and non-invasive vascular studies and surgery. The fellow will be trained in the indications and clinical application of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in our center.

The podiatric/geriatrics component of the fellowship is structured around a close academic relationship with geriatrics fellows and attendings in the medical and podiatric management of the aged population residing in St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers facilities. This synergy mutually enriches both programs in a unique academic setting.
