Research & Clinical Trials

Welcome to Saint Vincent's Office of Research and Clinical Trials.  The goal of this site is to provide you with up-to-date information about participating in research throughout the Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers System.  This site is a one-stop resource for people who are interested in research: patients, research subjects, researchers, and sponsors.  We believe, and hope you agree, that Saint Vincent's research is the first choice.

Across New York City and Westchester, we have top doctors, assisted by top nurses and research specialists, doing advanced research on many medical conditions.  Cancer, heart disease, HIV, depression, schizophrenia, cystic fibrosis, kidney disease, asthma, and stroke are just a few. We at Saint Vincent's are committed to advancing medical knowledge.

We have a lot of experience doing research, and because medical research may be scary, our first concern is for the people who are in our studies, their understanding, welfare, ethical treatment, and care.  We care.

At Saint Vincent's, we call our concern for people in research studies our “Human Subjects Protection Program.”  It is the fabric of what we do, and supports our commitment to your trust in us.  We base our program on documents that define what is right when doing research with people.

These documents are the 1998 update of:

We go far beyond what is required by government regulation.

Our care is based on principles. Saint Vincent's principles are respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence. We also are guided by the principles written into the Belmont Report. These are respect for persons, beneficence, and justice.

We believe that our approach to medical research helps our doctors be responsible researchers.  Our system ensures that people who enter into our research studies know that Saint Vincent's is protecting their interests first.  We understand the science, the people, and the process.

Welcome to Saint Vincent's Research, a place where people count.
