As long as your left ventricle has sufficient pumping ability, you
can participate in all forms of normal daily activity. This includes mild forms
of exercise and in some cases even competitive sports. However, you should
avoid exercise that uses muscle contraction to strengthen and tone your
muscles, usually involving pushing against resistance, such as weight lifting
or push-ups (isometric exercise).
Once your left ventricular function becomes abnormal, you should
speak with your doctor about the level of activity that is safe for you.
