A graduate of Temple University Medical School, he completed an orthopedic surgery residence at the University of Pittsburgh and a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic clinic in Los Angeles.

Dr. McMahon is editor of the book, Current Diagnosis and Treatment in Sports Medicine. He has authored more than 100 publications and has been a speaker at numerous international, national, and regional meetings.

Dr. McMahon was awarded membership in Phi Beta Kappa and the prestigious Society of American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and of the Orthopedic Research Society. He continues his research into improvements in treating shoulder instability and rotator cuff tears.
