Psychodynamic psychotherapy is based on the belief that your present
reactions, feelings, and thoughts are influenced by your past and unconscious
feelings and thoughts.
Brief or short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on your
present issues. During therapy sessions, the professional counselor interprets
your statements to help you become aware of unconscious thoughts and feelings
that can help you understand why you are reacting in a particular way.
You may be asked to complete written homework assignments, read
articles or books on the subject, and ask people in your life to attend therapy
sessions.
