St. Vincent's Pediatrician Assures Parents on the Safety of the H1N1 Vaccine

 

 

 

 

Dr. John Snyder, pediatrician, speaks to FOX 5 about the H1N1 vaccine and addressed parents fears about having their children inoculated. He explained why it is just as safe as the seasonal flu shot, with the only different being the proteins that are used. (FOX 5, October 6, 2009

 
St. Vincent's Launches the HIV Widget

 St. Vincent's unveils a novel computer widget to help educate healthcare providers on the latest diagnostic and treatment options for people who have been exposed to HIV to help fight the spread of the disease. (WABC Channel 7, September 9, 2009)

New York Post Supports a New St. Vincent's Hospital
After the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted in favor of allowing the plans for a new St. Vincent's to proceed, the New York Post urged city officials to follow suit in the editorial "Let St. Vinny's Build."
 
The Plans for a New St. Vincent's Receive Landmarks Preservation Commission Approval
 The Landmarks Preservation Commission voted 9 to 1 to approve the plans for a new St. Vincent's Hospital after a series of hearings on the appropriateness of the designs. The New York Times and The Villager reported on the final details of the plans as approved in the LPC decision.
 
St. Vincent's Announces the Eli and Abby Manning Birthing Center

St. Vincent's announces the creation of the Eli and Abby Manning Birthing Center, a state-of-the-art center to address the needs of the growing community. The 18 month renovation will redesign the labor and delivery unit to provide a more comfortable and beautiful environment for patients, patients's families and their precious newborns. (WABC Channel 7, Fox 5, WNBC Channel 4, May 13, 2009)

 Dr. Eric Legome Discusses Treating the Passengers of US Airways Flight 1549
 Dr. Eric Legome, Chairman of St. Vincent's Emergency Deparment, appeared on Good Morning America to talk about treating the passengers from the US Airways Flight 1549 after the plane crashed into the Hudson River. Dr. Legome discussed the minor injuries of the passengers that were brought to the emergency room, and the hospital's response to the news that a plane had crashed into a river.  Dr. Christopher McCarthy speaks with Larry King about Treating the Passengers of US Airways Flight 1549
 Dr. Christopher McCarthy, St. Vincent's Director of Pre-Hospital Care, appeared on Larry King Live to talk about the crash of US Airways Flight 1549. He spoke about the rapid response of the city in getting passengers to the hospital, and the mild injuries, including mild hypothermia, of the passengers who were brought to St. Vincent's.  (Larry King Live, January 15, 2009)

CBS Channel 2 visited St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center to learn about the latest radiotherapy treatment available to patients,  RapidArc. Dr. Lawrence Tena, radiation oncologist, explains this revolutionary technology and the benefits it offers patients, including shorter treatment times and less damage to healthy tissues.
