History and Mission

History
Holy Family Home was established in Park Slope in 1879 by the Little Sisters of the Poor, a French order of nursing sisters. The sisters purchased and moved into the current Bensonhurst building in the mid-1970s. The former Catholic Medical Centers assumed ownership and operation of the home in 1989. In 2000, it became part of Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers when Catholic Medical Centers merged with Sisters of Charity and Saint Vincents Hospital and Medical Centers to form a Catholic health care system that spans the greater metropolitan area.

Mission Statement
Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers is committed to reflecting God's love by advancing Christ's healing ministry, with Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence to all who come to us in need, especially the poor.

Integrity: Integrity is the consistency between the Catholic identity we profess and the ways in which we act it is that quality of truthfulness, which fosters trust.

Compassion: Compassion is the way we share deep concern, love and care toward each person.

Excellence: Excellence is our way of demonstrating that we can always be more, always be better.
