Hospice care means continuing to live your life, as fully and as comfortably as you can.
Hospice care is just a phone call away. Patients, physicians, other healthcare professionals, family members and friends can request Saint Vincent's Pax Christi Hospice services by simply calling (212) 995-6480. A qualified hospice intake nurse, skilled in helping patients and families make difficult decisions, will guide you through the screening and admission process. The nurse will describe hospice care and services in detail, answer all your questions, and even schedule a tour of the inpatient unit if needed. In most cases, an eligible patient will begin receiving services within 24 hours of the initial call.

Are you - or is someone you love - living with advanced disease? For anyone living with advanced-stage disease and limited life expectancy, Saint Vincent's Pax Christi Hospice will provide compassionate end-of-life care in your own home. A team of healthcare providers works with your physician to coordinate nursing care, medications, respiratory therapy, oxygen and other medical equipment, social work, spiritual support and counseling, home care aide and homemaker services, physical, occupational, speech and other therapies, nutritional counseling, in-home respite care when needed, and even brief stays as needed in our inpatient hospice unit for symptom management or special medical needs. Hospice nurses are available by phone 24 hours a day, every day. Trained volunteers offer support, companionship and respite for both patients and their families.
Hospice services focus on limiting the need for emergency room visits and hospitalizations. Above all, hospice care offers comfort, pain management, symptom control, and support for the social and emotional well being of patients and their loved ones - helping patients and families prepare for death with dignity and respect. And, to offer a measure of continued support, bereavement counseling is offered to families for a full 13 months following the death of a loved one.
