Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills Training Program

Our Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Skills Training Program program is appropriate for adults age 18 and older who have an Axis I diagnosis of borderline personality disorder, or significant borderline traits co-morbid with a major Axis I disorder, and may include co-occurring chemical dependency disorders.  The program operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is most effective with consistent participation.

The DBT Skills Training group offers a four- to six-month education and skills development course that focuses on concepts of core mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance. A variety of psychodynamic and task-oriented groups supplement the skills training program. These groups assist clients in understanding and learning how to apply tools learned in the coursework. The program's psychiatrist and team leader are DBT-certified (Linehan DBT intensive training certificates), and we can provide full psychiatric support, including medication management, while a client attends the program. Our highly trained staff includes therapists trained in addressing multiply co-occurring disorders.

We accept rolling admission to the program, so clients can start within 24 to 48 hours following an intake and evaluation. St. Vincent's Westchester accepts Medicaid, Medicare, some private insurances, and a sliding scale for self payment.

For more information about the program, please call (914) 925-5290. To refer a patient to the program, please call (914) 925-5320.
